'New Orleans Music for the 21st Century No. 13'

John Maddocks Jazzmen and Gentleman Jim McIntosh's Jazzaholics

John Maddocks Jazzmen
Based in Dorset the band reached its fortieth birthday in 2011 and continues to excite audiences with a repertoire of classic jazz played with power and conviction. John previously formed the London-based Black Bottom Stompers, a band that enjoyed huge success in the mid-60s and is still in existence today. Always on the look-out for forgotten tunes of jazz's golden age, the band remain one of the most popular on the UK jazz scene and are in demand for festivals, jazz weekends and clubs throughout the UK and Europe.

Personnel: John Maddocks, clarinet, saxes; Peter Wilkinson, trumpet; Tony Farr, trombone; Brian Barker, drums; Dave Broomfield, banjo, guitar; Peter McCorrie, bass, sousaphone; Chris Satterly, piano.

Gentleman Jim McIntosh's Jazzaholics
Now in its fifth year, the band goes from strength to strength playing its brand of stomping hot jazz. With a combination of youth and experience the band produces an exciting sound to the delight of audiences wherever they perform. Jim McIntosh was, of course, for many years a member of Phil Mason's New Orlean's All Stars rhythm section where his banjo playing helped give that band its distinctive sound.
